Two firefighters were injured Sunday afternoon while responding to a multiple-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Barnegat. Several local fire teams were called to the Atlantic Heights apartment complex a little before 1 p.m. Residents in the complex were evacuated while water was poured onto the burning building. In the process, two firefighters from the Stafford Fire Department fell after being hit with a stream of water, according to Barnegat Assistant Chief Daniel Rooney. One of the firefighters received a cut to part of his face, Rooney told NJ Advance Media. Both firefighters were checked out at Southern Ocean Medical Center and are expected to make a fully recovery.
