North Plainfield house fire leaves 22-year-old woman dead

A 22-year-old woman died following a Thursday morning house fire on Grove Street, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. The woman was identified as Estefanie Brizuela-Garcia, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti said in a news release. Another resident, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset after suffering smoke inhalation and non-life-threatening burns to the back of his neck. Seven other residents of the single-family home, ages 3 to 42, were able to safely evacuate, according to the news release. At about 2:48 a.m., the North Plainfield Police Department received a 911 call about the fire, according to the news release.
