A multi-alarm fire May 18 about 2 p.m. in South Dennis was battled using a tanker relay, due to the lack of fire hydrants near the scene. No injuries were reported. According to a report on the Dennis Volunteer Fire Co. Facebook page, Dennis firefighters, along with automatic aid from Ocean View Volunteer Fire Co. and Belleplain Volunteer Fire Company, were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the 800 block of Dennisville Road in South Dennis. Prior to arrival, one responding unit reported seeing a large column of smoke during their response and requested a second alarm. Units arrived on location to find a one-story dwelling heavily involved. Units placed a water line down a lengthy driveway to the dwelling and put multiple lines in service to douse the flames. Due to no hydrants in the area, a drafting site was set up at the nearby Cape Concrete site on Route 83, and a water shuttle with tankers was used to supply water for the incident.
