A fire engulfed a three-story house in Clifton on Thursday afternoon and left 21 people without a home, authorities said. A call of a fire at a home on the 400 block of Lexington Avenue came in at 2:26 p.m. and the blaze had reached three alarms about 15 minutes later, Fire Chief Frank Prezioso said. One woman had to be rescued by firefighters from a second floor window before she tried to jump from it, officials told NorthJersey.com. She was taken to a local hospital but her injuries were not considered non-life threatening, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement late Thursday night. The fire was eventually brought under control and two police officers who responded to the scene were treated for smoke inhalation, Prezioso said.
