With 60 lives saved to date since the inception of its AED program and five of those in 2019, the Newton Medical Center Foundation will be recognizing and celebrating EMS first responders during the seventh annual “Heart and Soul — A Community Celebration,” on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Perona Farms.
Beginning with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 and hosted by the Newton Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising arm for Atlantic Health System’s Newton Medical Center, the event will raise funds for the medical center’s AED or automatic external defibrillator program.
The program has been credited for its part in the lifesaving efforts of 60 individuals since the foundation campaign to provide portable AEDs was spearheaded in 2001.
