A fire at a funeral home in Newark summoned dozens of firefighters to the scene on Wednesday afternoon. The fire took place at the Churchman Funeral Home at 345 Thirteenth Avenue. About 60 members of the Newark Fire Department responded to the scene shortly before 12:45 p.m., authorities said. The fire started on the building's second floor and extended to its third floor. It was placed under control at 1:08 p.m.; no injuries were reported, authorities said. The Newark Fire Division's Arson Unit is investigating the cause and origin of the fire, authorities said.
