VIDEOS: Former chiefs and firefighters came from as far away as Alaska on Saturday to take part in the Centennial Celebration of the Green Village Volunteer Fire Department. The Doherty family boasts four generations of GVFD members, with Jim and Kevin Doherty following their grandfather and father as members and Kevin Doherty's son representing the fourth generation by returning from Alaska, where he is a firefighter, for the Centennial. Kevin Doherty is closing in on 50 years with the GVFD and he talks about his family connection. Grant Apgar, 81, a member of the GVFD 50 years ago, returned with family members to take part in the celebration. Apgar's father also served the GVFD when he lived just three houses away from the firehouse.
