A man has been arrested after his 11-month-old was found dead Tuesday at an Albuquerque motel. According to a criminal complaint, police responded late Tuesday morning to the San Mateo Inn after receiving reports that a child had fallen into a pool and was not breathing. When they arrived, rescue crews were already on the scene, attempting to revive the baby girl, but she was pronounced dead on the scene. Thirty-nine-year-old Moses Johnson told police he had been standing next to the pool, throwing his daughter into the air and playing with her when she slipped and fell into the pool. But officers noticed Johnson was not wet. Officers watched security footage of the pool, spoke to witnesses staying at the motel and quickly determined Johnson's story did not match up, the complaint states. Upon further questioning with police, Johnson changed his story. Johnson told police he was staying in motel room with his daughter and a woman. He told police his daughter had been sick, so between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m., he put her in her car seat in the bathroom on the toilet seat and turned the shower on to steam the room.
