The body of a young boy was found following a fire at an apartment complex in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called to the Sierra Meadows apartments on Eubank near Montgomery at 2:12 a.m. in response to a fire on the second floor and reports of trapped residents. Crews arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the apartments. A total of three people were taken to the hospital including a woman who suffered a leg injury and a 13-year-old and a 2-year-old are both in critical condition due to smoke inhalation. Multiple apartment units have been declared a total loss. Volunteers with the Red Cross were at the scene in the early morning hours working to help the displaced residents. "Unfortunately, when a fire hits a lot of times people can't grab their shoes. We don't want them to. We want them out of the building that's on fire," said Douglas Keaty of the American Red Cross.
