Fifteen new firefighters will be sworn in Friday after having successfully completed the 22nd Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Firefighter Academy.
The academy consists of 88 hours of classroom instruction and skills practice over the course of 10 consecutive weekends. Topics of instruction include fire safety, fire behavior, building construction, fire extinguishers, forcible entry, fire streams, proper use of gear and equipment, and ropes.
The public is invited to attend the graduation ceremony, which will take place in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center on Jan. 11, 2019, at 6 p.m.
