The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has confirmed a fire sparked March 2 in the Organ Mountains was human-caused.
In addition, as of Monday, March 11, the Baylor Canyon Fire reached full containment, said Loretta Benavidez, BLM spokeswoman.
"The Baylor fire, as of earlier today, is called 100 percent contained and controlled," she said. "All personnel have been released."
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to 50 acres burned. Benavidez said a quick response by local fire crews, along with them working alongside BLM firefighters, helped to minimize the total acreage burned.
The Baylor Canyon Fire burned grass and brush last week in a rugged area at about 6,600 feet in elevation, according to the BLM.
The blaze is considered to be "human-caused," Benavidez confirmed.
