Mayor Lynn Crawford Tuesday gave special recognition to a village firefighter and his family, who have offered support when needed to more than one of their neighbors. Fireman Jeffery Miles, his wife Aleah, daughter Lylah Rae, 5; son Welden, 2; and father-in-law Elliott Topper, were honored for being good neighbors with a plaque of recognition and a gift certificate to eat at Cornerstone Bakery. "I ran into a lady one day I've known for some time, she expressed her appreciation. Sometimes we don't think much about our neighbors or hear about the good things people do," Crawford said. "She expressed to me how awesome her neighbors have been to her and how without them, she would have had a very difficult time." But her neighbors stepped in to help when they realized she was largely on her own, the mayor said.
