The Ruidoso Fire Department and the Village of Ruidoso Emergency Management Department received a grant in the amount of $9,000 from the Hubbard Foundation. These funds, along with additional funding from the Village, were used to purchase 22 sets of body armor, or ballistic vests, for fire department personnel. The vests would be used when the responding calls involving weapons, domestic violence, and any incident where law enforcement's safety could be compromised. “These vests have been needed for a long time,” said Emergency Manager for the Village of Ruidoso Joe Kasuboski. “We would like to thank the Hubbard Foundation for making it possible to provide this protection for our first respondents." The R.D. & Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation provides grants to nonprofit corporations and individuals through approved scholarship programs benefiting the community. The foundation was started in 1991.
