A popular boxing gym in Roswell where professional fighters have trained around the world caught on fire six months ago. Now, the owner, Lupe Perez said he fears the worst. “It would be pretty sad if we had to close down,” he said. Lupe Perez, also known as “grandpa” to the kids around town, owns ‘The Dungeon Boxing/MMA Gym’ in Roswell. It’s a non-profit gym where kids often stop by after school to train and stay out of trouble. “The parents are happy about that,” Perez said. “ They leave the gym, they're tired, they go home and go to bed." Perez said some of those kids have now become professional fighters worldwide, such as Andrés Quintana. “I grew up without a father figure when I was 12 until I was an adult, and he kind of filled a void there and I had a strong sense of a male figure around for the majority of my childhood just because I would go to boxing every day,” Quintana said.
