Fires extinguished in Albuquerque

Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to 8811 Chambers Place Northeast, for a report of a single-story residential duplex ablaze. Firefighters contained the flames to the roof over the vacant side of the duplex. There was extensive smoke and fire damage to the roof. The occupants on the other side of the duplex will not be displaced. The cause was electrical. No injuries to firefighters or civilians. Friday night around 9:30, AFR crews went to 1628 Mary Ellen Street Northeast about a structure fire. They found a single story residence with smoke coming from the garage. The house was vacant and boarded up. They doused the flames in short order. The cause is under investigation.
