Crews respond to fire after two car batteries ignite in downtown Las Vegas
VIDEO/PHOTOS: Authorities responded Sunday afternoon after two car batteries ignited a fire in downtown Las Vegas. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to an emergency service request at the Symphony Park Parking Structure at 355 Promenade Place around 12:30 p.m. The caller reported that an SUV was on fire on the top floor. The first LVFR unit was on scene three minutes after their assignment and found two vehicles inflamed upon their arrival. According to the investigation, the fire was initiated when the car battery for one vehicle was discovered dead. In an act of assistance, the second car began charging the battery. The car owners then left the vehicles charging, and when they returned, both cars were on fire, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

15 people displaced after fire breaks out at central Las Vegas apartment building
American Red Cross of Southern Nevada volunteers responded to an apartment building fire that displaced 15 people in the central valley. On Sunday, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in the 300 block of W. Cincinnati Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Officials said five units were affected by the fire, and utilities are not expected to be restored until Tuesday. The Red Cross provided essential items, such as clothing and food, to those affected, assisted in replacing prescription medicines, and provided a safe place to stay. Beyond addressing immediate needs, the Red Cross said volunteers provided crucial emotional support to those impacted by the fire. Financial assistance is also available for those in need, and information to guide home fire victims through the recovery.
