The fire was burning in Minnehaha Canyon near Sandstone Drive. The National Interagency Coordination Center reported the fire was 800 acres in it’s 4:30 a.m. roundup. There are 175 firefighters working on it including five handcrews and three helicopters. Fire officials report active fire behavior with isolated torching and uphill runs. At least one home is threatened by the blaze, including habitat for sage grouse. Firefighters hope to have the blaze contained by Saturday. So far the fire has cost $150,000 to fight. The Canyon Fire is one of two-dozen uncontained large fires burning across the nation.
