The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to assist the State of Nevada with the Canyon Fire burning in Douglas County. The fire is burning in the Minnehaha Canyon in the Topaz Ranch Estates area in Douglas County, about 30 miles southeast of Carson City. The BLM says 441-acre Canyon Fire was reported around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. They also say it's 40% contained and was started by target shooting. It's expected to be fully contained sometime this Saturday. The East Fork Fire Protection District has told us that evacuations were lifted for residents east of Canyon Drive.
