A Las Vegas Fire & Rescue firefighter was named the City of Las Vegas’ Employee of the Year for 2018 on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the City Hall. Matt Driscoll was given the honor for his work in developing a training program for sex trafficking awareness, according to the City of Las Vegas website. The program earned Matt an Employee of the Month award for March, the month he developed the training program. According to the city’s website, Matt developed the program after going to a sex trafficking event in the fall the previous year, after which he partnered with iEmpathize, an organization committed to preventing the exploitation of youths. He led the Empower Las Vegas program for which he recruited members from LVFR and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to organize nearly a week’s worth of training for first responders and more.
