VIDEO: A five-acre brush fire in Yerington that started as an agricultural burn on private property has been contained. County Manager Jeff Page says the Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Protection District was reported shortly before 4 p.m. June 10, 2019 at the River Split Ranch on Highway 208. Firefighters found heavy brush and grass burning. Page says the fire put off a large column of smoke that could be seen throughout Mason Valley. The Lyon County Road Department responded with a bulldozer to help build a line around the fire. Page says there were no reports of injuries and no structures were threatened.
