VIDEO: An investigation is underway at the Autumn Village housing complex on Gentry Way near Virginia Street after fire crews found materials burning inside one of the units. The call came in just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The Reno Fire Department says when they arrived, the resident in the unit where smoke was coming from would not let crews in to investigate. "They saw that there was light smoke coming from the building and they went to make entry in which case they were told they couldn't enter," Battalion Chief Brad Jensen said. The Reno Police Department showed up and forced entry into the unit. Crews found burning materials inside. "If the fire is endangering people or property and we need to go in we will go ahead and make entry. In this case there was no immediate fire threat so the prudent thing to do was request Reno Police for safety reasons for our crews," Jensen said.
