A woman and 5-year-old child were hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in Spanish Springs, the Sparks Police Department reported.
It happened about 2:50 p.m. in the area of Avila Court and Toledo Drive northeast of Redhawk Golf and Resort.
Police said the driver was parked and started backing up and hit the two at a low speed. The woman had minor injuries to her hand and the child did not have any injuries, police said.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor, police said. Police cited the driver, who was cooperative, for unsafe backing.
