PHOTOS/VIDEO: Las Vegas fire crews battled a blaze in a two-story building on Sahara Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Maryland Parkway for around five hours Tuesday morning. Crews will remain on the scene for much of the day monitoring hotspots. Sahara is closed in both directions between 6th and Commercial Center. According to Szymanski, the fire started in a dumpster inside the building structure and burned through the roof causing the fire to spread at Statewide Lighting. The lighting fixture business had been closed since early Monday evening. It was reported just before 4 a.m. by parking enforcement officers on patrol who saw the smoke. Crews fought much of the blaze from outside due to concerns the roof would collapse. Three fire departments responded to the scene and actively worked to contain the fire. No injuries were reported.
