As temperatures rise, so does the risk of wildfires. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is taking steps to spark safety this season with a Wildland Fire Awareness Day. Officials will be available at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area visitor center to speak about Wildfire Awareness Month on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The Southern Nevada Fire Prevention Group will educate attendees on fire safety while recreating and traveling. BLM says most wildland fires in Southern Nevada are human-caused.
