In less than a week, three people lost their lives in home fires in the Las Vegas valley. The most recent death was on Wednesday. During the month of July, 47 home fires resulted in 241 people who needed assistance including anything from temporary housing to meals or financial help.
According to the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada, July was the busiest month for home fires in over a decade. Volunteers were called out to help at home fires on 25 days in July, often more than once a day.
“The record number of home fire responses highlight the indispensable support provided by our volunteers to those in need,” Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter. Rachel Flanigan said. The home fires stretched across southern Nevada including Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Pahrump.
