The Syracuse Fire Department is investigating an early morning house fire. Firefighters say a District Chief noticed smoke at around 1:00 a.m. Monday near Liberty Street. The Department says he drove around to find where the fire was coming from and discovered flames in a home near Belden Avenue. Deputy Fire Chief Barry Lasky says when crews arrived they found heavy flames on the first floor and starting to burn the second floor. Luckily, crews say they managed to knock the fire down in 15 minutes. Officials say the house was not occupied and no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
