Firefighters battled a heavy fire at a home on Imson Street in Buffalo's Babcock neighborhood.
The fire started sometime around 3 a.m. on the second floor of the vacant home at 130 Imson. It then spread to the attic, destroying the roof.
When our photographer arrived, he said he could feel the heat as flames tore through the attic.
The fire chief said it took about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames, which damaged two occupied neighboring homes. The occupants got out of their homes safely. This was the second fire that fire crews responded to in the overnight hours of Thursday on Imson Street. Just after midnight, they put out an attic fire at 61 Imson.
The fire at 61 Imson caused $50,000 in damage, the fire at 130 Imson caused $100,000 in damage. Officials say both fires appear suspicious and the investigation continues.
No injuries were reported.
