The Albany International Airport firefighter who nearly died after an infection turned septic over the weekend survived another health scare this week.
Chelsea Woodward said doctors thought her husband, Josh Woodward, might have developed a flesh-eating bacteria infection in his hand, according to her updates on Facebook.
Chelsea Woodward posted a photo Tuesday night showing the infected hand and wrist, saying doctors were worried they would have to amputate Josh’s arm to save his life.
“Worst case scenario, we’re down to 0% survival," she wrote Tuesday evening. "They said they’ve only seen it one time, and it didn’t end well."
Doctors prepped Josh for surgery, telling his wife and family he could be in the operating room for up to three hours.
