The kitchen at Dana's Rusty Anchor restaurant here took the brunt of damage from a fire early Tuesday.
When Peru Volunteer Fire Department firefighters arrived at 4016 Route 9, "there were flames coming out a couple of windows and out the (front) door," Fire Chief Kevin O'Neil said.
Crews went straight in, knocking down the fire, he said.
Clinton County Dispatch called the Peru fire company at 2:07 a.m., with mutual aid summoned from Morrisonville, Keeseville and South Plattsburgh.
"We had plenty of help," O'Neil said. "Everything went well."
In fact, he added, "the city (Plattsburgh) took one of our calls when we were at the scene."
At the steak and seafood restaurant, crews put thermal imaging cameras to work, O'Neil said.
