Former Canandaigua Fire Chief Mark Marentette passed away on Wednesday. Canandaigua Police Chief Stephen Hedworth told News10NBC that officers are investigating the circumstances, but that no foul play is suspected. News10NBC news partner Messenger Post confirmed that a judge this week sided with the City of Canandaigua in a lawsuit filed by Marentette. U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth Wolford ruled the City of Canandaigua was within its rights to fire Marentette in April 2017. Marentette served as Canandaigua Fire Chief for six years.
