Ithaca firefighters remember Daryl Pace as an active firefighter with plenty of energy, charisma and a love for being where all the action is.
Pace reluctantly retired from her job a few months ago because of a job-related cancer diagnosis. On Monday, her life came to an end at the age of 36 while surrounded by her loving family.
"It is with profound sadness and heartache, that the Ithaca Fire Department family announces the passing of our friend and colleague, Firefighter Daryl Pace. Daryl loved the fire service, helping the community and educating the youth," an Ithaca Fire Department Facebook post reads. "Being at the firehouse is where she belonged. She was active in all aspects of the job and always wanted to be where the action was. Her energy and charisma will surely be missed."
