On Wednesday July 17th, the Ithaca community gathered to say goodbye to a 10-year veteran of the Ithaca Fire Department. On July 8th, 36-year-old Daryl Pace, passed away from cancer related to her job as a firefighter. Those who knew Daryl say she touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She was said to be passionate, kind, and caring, no matter if it was was on duty, or on the ice. "Just as they said, she was a damn good firefighter, she was a damn good hockey player and she was a force of nature out there on the ice," says C.J. DelVecchio, one of Daryl's former hockey teammates Daryl spent the past ten years serving with the city of Ithaca fire department, before needing to retire due to her illness. Even if she was not on the same shift as some of her co-workers, they told WENY News she had left an impression on all of them.
