The Elmira Enforcers played against the New York City Fire Department at the First Arena, on Wednesday night. The firefighters won the game in a 4-3 win.
"This is awesome to have the large department FDNY come to little old Elmira and play our Elmira Enforcers," Tim Sweeney, former Fire Chief of the Southport Fire Dept., said.
Fans of all ages went to support Elmira's hockey team.
"I think it is great to have hockey back in Elmira," Matthew Evans, an Enforcers fan, said. "It's great to have a team back on the ice."
Noticeably on the ice in a referee outfit, was owner of the team, Robbie Nichols. On Sunday, Nichols was fined $25,000 after a heated confrontation with officials during the game.
However, Nichols and the referees showed a united front at Wednesday's game.
