Josh Woodward, the local firefighter winning a battled against an aggressive septic infection that cost him a hand and toes, is slowly being removed from the machinery that has kept him alive, his wife said.
Now, Chelsea Woodward says she's preparing to bring her husband home - possibly as soon as later this week. She has used a Facebook page - Woodward Strong - to chronicle his illness, recovery and setbacks since soon after Josh Woodward arrived at the hospital last month with shoulder pain that turned out to be a relentless infection that targeted his organs and extremities.
On Monday, she said she purchased a number of things to help him continue his recovery at home.
"The next few days he will see every single doctor he has (lots) who have to individually clear him for discharge," she said. "And then he's coming home."
