This week, the Fishers Fire District will become the first agency in Ontario County to offer ALS services on fire apparatus as part of an EMS first response program.
As a community that continues to experience residential and commercial development, there is a great demand for fire and EMS. Last year the District and staff recognized a need to help ensure the best possible care for residents and visitors, so in June 2018, the Board of Fire Commissioners voted to transition EMS first response services from basic life support to Advanced care.
Since Board approval nearly one year ago, the staff has worked to develop the operational plans and procedures necessary to operate a New York State Certified Service, and last week passed a Department of Health site inspection, of equipment, training and procedures.
