VIDEO: A restaurant and some apartments were destroyed in a five-alarm fire in Port Chester Sunday afternoon.
The flames burned at the rear of an apartment building on North Main Street. One woman told News 12 that she lost everything in her apartment, including her pet, and will have to find somewhere else to live. "My son got a phone call that the property was on fire," she says. "We were an hour away and we rushed here, hoping and praying we would be able to save our bird. We lost our parrot that we had for a long time."
One firefighter suddenly collapsed while battling the flames. Fellow firefighters and EMTs rushed to help him, sending him to the hospital. The flames started just before 1 p.m., also consuming the building that housed the La Dolce Vita Bar and Restaurant.
