Family Homeless After Fire Guts Coram House

PHOTOS: Just after 10pm the Coram Fire Department was called to a home on Hagen Ct. after getting a call for a house fire. Upon arrival units had heavy fire in the basement of a 2 story home. The fire quickly made its way to the first floor and collapsed the floor on the main level forcing firefighters to exit the building. Fire spread to the 2nd floor and into the attic. The occupants of the home, 5 children and 2 adults, were able to evacuate with no injuries. Multiple surrounding departments were called to the scene to assist. The fire was brought under control in about 2 hours. The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal's office was called to the scene for an investigation. The Red Cross was also requested to the scene for emergency housing assistance.
