Utica Fire Crews responded to a house fire Wednesday night. The call came in just before 9:00 pm at 29 Winner Ave near Erie Street. The American Red Cross is assisting two adults with food, shelter and clothing. One person was injured. That individual suffered minor burns, but did not go to the hospital. Everyone involved made it out of the home safely, but some pets perished in the fire. Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll tells NEWSChannel 2 when crews arrived at the scene, fire and smoke was coming from the back of the home, and flames were shooting out of several windows. Despite the Utica Fire Department being able to extinguish the fire in less than 30 minutes of being dispatched, the heat took its toll on firefighters. "The heat is definitely taking a toll." said Ingersoll.
