A two-alarm fire in Red Hook destroyed a Kelly Road residence, displacing two residents. Red Hook Fire Company received reports of the fire originating in the basement around 9 a.m. Monday, according to a release from the fire company. The first floor of the residence collapsed less than 10 minutes after the fire company arrived to the scene. Moments later, the roof caved in. "When the first officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the main floor was compromised," said Red Hook Fire Company First Assistant Chief Mike Lane. "Due to that dangerous situation, we established a defensive exterior attack, including a ladder truck fighting the fire from above. No firefighters entered the house." Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 45 minutes, but they spent about two hours dealing with hot spots, according to the company.
