Four people were hurt when a police ambulance collided with an SUV, sending the SUV into another car near a Plainview strip mall. Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department and Nassau County police officers were sent to the wreck in front of the Plainview Shopping Centre on South Oyster Bay Road. The driver of a police ambulance responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated collided with a Jeep that then crashed into another car. Four people were hurt and all were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The northbound lanes of South Oyster Bay Road were closed for about 30 minutes as crews worked the crash. The Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department was called, but was given a disregard with ample resources already at the scene.
