The Auburn Police and Fire Departments are investigating eight arson cases spanning over three months, creating anger and fear for residents.
“The scariest part is there’s kids inside my house and my neighbors,” Ashley, who had her yellow Jeep Wrangler’s gas cap set on fire Monday, is fearful it could continue.
Detective Sean DeRosa with the Auburn Police Department said the incidents have only got worse over time.
“The first initial arson investigations were spread out far enough, but they started off with either back porch fires or sheds,” he said. Jim Nielson and Nick Vitale, who both live on Howard St., were the first two victims in early March.
“Our neighbor woke us up and we ran down and called the fire department immediately because it was just engulfed in flames,” Nielson said.
