Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll says when his firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from the back of the second and third floor porches.
The fire happened just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at 905 Saratoga Street, in Utica.
Chief Ingersoll says there is damage to all floors of the two and a half story building. The fire happened inside made its way into the attic space.
Chief Ingersoll tells NEWSChannel 2 that a man, who was inside the home at the time, was throwing several items at the firefighters from the attic space.
"When they started making their way up into the attic, they did encounter a male that was throwing things at them," said Chief Ingersoll. "They did have to remove him from the structure. That male was not injured."
