A family of eight was safe following a house fire Saturday morning at 19 W. Academy St. However, the house suffered damage and two firefighters were sidelined temporarily and treated at the scene after feeling light-headed from the heat, Albion’s fire chief said.
One bystander was also injured, although not seriously, after reportedly tripping over a firehose while walking across the road, Fire Chief Harry Papponetti said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:01 a.m. Saturday and were on scene for about 4 1/2 hours, he said. The eight people living in the residence are two adults and six children, Everyone got out safely, he said. “Our fire department was the first on scene. We had automatic mutual aid from Barre Fire Department with one engine. Medina Fire Department came in with their ladder truck too. They also responded with their FAST team.”
