City Fire Chief Thomas Groff briefed the Common Council on Tuesday on efforts by the Gloversville Firefighters Association to provide updates to the public on the conditions of Lehr and Ortega and to organize and disseminate details on legitimate fundraising initiatives to support the couple as they undergo medical treatment. Lehr and Ortega were airlifted to Albany Medical Center on Friday night following the accident at the intersection of Route 30A and County Highway 154 in Mayfield. Members of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department dispatched to the accident scene discovered Lehr and Ortega laying in the roadway with severe injuries after they were ejected from their motorcycle. The accident currently remains under investigation, but Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino on Monday stated that Telfer was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and is expected to be charged with two felonies in connection to the accident and the resulting injuries suffered by Lehr and Ortega.
