Seven White Plains firefighters tested positive for the coronavirus and several more have symptoms and are under quarantine while they await test results, Union President Joe Carrier said on Wednesday.
Carrier and Chief Richard Lyman assured city residents that the department is still able to protect them.
"We are still staffing appropriately and protecting the city like always," Chief Lyman said.
In a statement on Facebook, the union said, "While our brothers are home recuperating, members of Local 274 will be coming to work to protect you and your loved ones, while doing everything in our power to remain healthy."
