A ‘road collapse’ is believed to be the reason a fire truck crashed Wednesday afternoon in Chemung County. WENY reports the crash occurred just after noon on Middle Road in the Town of Veteran. A pumper truck was being driven by a 23 year-old member of the fire department. The road collapsed and the truck went off the roadway. The driver was not injured. The truck did, however, suffer substantial damage. The Odessa Fire Department says it will temporarily borrow a pumper truck from a neighboring fire district.
