A car overturned in a crash on Hylan Boulevard in Great Kills Thursday morning, sparking a large emergency response. One person was taken to Staten Island University Hospital following the crash, which was reported at 8:24 a.m., according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS. The Nissan Versa was lying on its side on the sidewalk at the corner of Hylan and Keegans Lane, until an NYPD Emergency Service Unit truck pulled it off the walkway and into the street. The crash occurred on the Tottenville-bound side of Hylan, and traffic was heavy in that direction as emergency officials respond to the scene. The vehicle was badly damage and appeared to have careened into the traffic pole at the corner. The pole was partially-ripped from sidewalk and was leaning over the intersection.
