The FDNY battled three major house fires late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, creating a chaotic five hours across Staten Island.
Just after 4 a.m. Tuesday, multiple units battled flames for more than an hour at a three-story, multi-family building at 268 Targee St. in Stapleton, where a fire was reported on the second floor, a spokesman for the department said.
One civilian was transported to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, with a serious but non-life threatening injury. Additionally, two firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to the FDNY. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Earlier in the night, firefighters on the West Shore responded at about 2:05 a.m. to a report of smoke and flames at a two-story house near the intersection of Rockland and Shepard avenues in New Springville.
