Woman airlifted to hospital after brush fire mishap in Milan

On Saturday at approximately 12:30 pm the Milan Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics were dispatched for a report of a brush fire and subject burned outside a residence Route 199 Town of Milan. Second Assistant Chief Jeffrey Galm said that a 45-year-old female was burning a pile of brush when a container with flammable liquid caught fire resulting in burns to her face, chest, and arms. She was transported to a landing zone at the Milan Town Hall where she was loaded onto a helicopter and airlifted to the Westchester Medical Center burn unit. The Milan Fire Department was assisted at the landing zone by Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies and Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.
