The Wellsville Fire Department is working hard to keep the village’s new economic engine safe and secure.
Monday night, Chief Michael “Barney” Dillie told the village board the fire department has been working on fire protocols at the Wellsville Business Park, former home of Siemens Dresser Rand.
The Business Park is working to bring new manufacturing tenants to Wellsville. Dillie said the fire department’s role includes coordination with local project manager Jason Kulik and the new ownership, which is based in Rochester. Because the facility is no longer manned 24/7, a Knox box is being installed to give firefighters access to the plant in the event of a fire alarm.
“They are also working on fixing their fire alarm system so if when we get the message it’s zone 1, we know where zone 1 is,” Dillie said.
